Yes you could ski in Georgia but not anymore. Sky Valley changed hands in Summer of 2004 and they closed for the Winter 2004-2005 season while the new owners talked the resort's future. In the Summer of 2005 Sky Valley came out with an announcement about closing their skiing operation. Sky Valley will not be open this year(2005), or any year after. The news is in, Sky Valley Resort is closing it's doors to skiers forever. Rumors about improving the facility proved false and Sky Valley will no longer cater to Winter sports. Boo hoo, they had five trails and two lifts. Quaint family ski slope in the north Georgia Foothills. This is tragic for the state of Georgia as Sky Valley was the only destination in the state for snowboarding and skiing. Sky Valley is located in the tip-top north-east portion of the state. It sits directly north from the quaint town of Dillard, Georgia a hot spot for weekenders. Just south of Sky Valley is Tallulah Fall, the Grand Canyon of the South. Offering some of my favorite southern views, hiking, and water sports. |
